Bank Holiday Outing ...

I have wanted to visit Ickworth House near Bury St Edmunds for some time now and today we finally made it a date ...

The sun shone and the showers , well they showered ..lots but with so much to see both inside and outside the House did not disappoint. Beautiful oil paintings , marble busts and antique furniture and chandeliers to die for.

The great hall was stunning with balustrades , circular 'windows' and yet more stunning artwork.

 

Outside in the grounds and garden there were formal Italianate Gardens , clipped topiary and manicured

lawns alongside pastoral scenes of sheep and their young lambs in a quintessential English country landscape.

We had such a lovely day and to top it all off we decided to buy a family membership to the National Trust, I'm sure we will enjoy lots more beautiful days out especially when we visit Yorkshire later on in the year for our holidays.
